Birchbox Welcome Introductory box

I have been meaning to make this post since last month when I got the box, and since I got my shipping notification for March’s Birchbox, I figured I better get on the ball! I described here how I signed up for my Birchbox subscription. I was thrilled when my Welcome box arrived in the mail and I could hardly wait to tear into it!

It came packaged in a nice box with a cute pink sleeve.

The welcome box is the first box someone gets when they receive a gift Birchbox subscription. It is filled with some of their most popular items, and contains a nice welcome letter.

Excited to tear into my box

Let’s get started!

Everything minus the chocolate 😉 yeah I ate it.

The first product I pulled out was a red spray bottle called Beauty Protector: Protect and Detangle. This is a Birchbox exclusive that does much more than detangle. It seals your hair’s cuticle, smooths and moisturizes, reduces frizz, safeguards color, and has UV protection. This is a jack of all trades for fabulous hair 🙂 I did use the product once so far, and I liked it. I will use this bottle up, not sure yet if I will repurchase. I have long, coarse very thick hair, so I have A LOT of hair products laying around. This product does have VERY good reviews on Birchbox’s site.

The Next thing I pulled out was Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator. This was one of the things I was least excited about in the box, but surprisingly I’ve used it the most and LOVED it!! I use it about every 3rd day and it does what it says. Brightens up my face and leaves it soft and smooth. This product contains enzymes that function like microdermabrasion with similar results. This is something I will definitely repurchase.

Next I pulled out a small cardboard compact with a neat magnetic closure. It was theBalm cosmetics Hot Mama shadow and blush all-in-one. It is a nice peachy sheen with a golden shimmer so it works as a blush, highlighter, and eyeshadow. I have used this and I like it! I mostly use it as a blush, but I did try it as a shadow simply swept over my lid one day when I was running late. I liked the look. I haven’t tried it as a highlighter yet because I’ve loved it as a blush. Not sure if I’d repurchase this, but I have liked it so far. I have so much makeup, this sample size is likely to last me awhile.

*I tried with all my might to get a decent swatch, but for some reason taking pictures of swatches on my pasty skin never goes well. *sigh*

The last beauty item in the box was a fragrance sample of Juicy Couture: Couture La La. I was least excited about this, just because I don’t really get excited about those tiny fragrance samples. Just my personal thang I guess. It smelled nice enough, but I won’t repurchase.

They added a sweet bonus in the box as well. A piece of Ghirardelli chocolate in milk and caramel. It was perfect for a sweet treat, but wouldn’t wreck havoc on my healthy eating. I ate it about 5 minutes after I opened the box. It was delish!

My favorites in the box listed in order:

1. Vasanti Exfoliator

2. theBalm Hot Mama

3. Beauty Protector hair product

4. Ghirardelli chocolate

5. Juicy Couture fragrance.

I just got an email that my March box has shipped and I’m thrilled!! I can’t wait to share what I receive with y’all!

Do you receive Birchboxes? If so what’s been your favorite product you’ve received?

I subscribed to Birchbox!!

So I started this beauty Odyssey when I signed up to receive ipsy glam bags from http://www.ipsy.com. My first youtube video was an unboxing of my first ipsy bag. I was hooked. Subscription services are so exciting for me because I get to try more products for a cheaper price, and it’s like waiting for Christmas. >;) When I heard about Birchbox, I decided to give it a whirl also. It’s only $10 a month. Two monthly subscription services isn’t too much right? RIGHT?! When I went to sign up, I found out there is a waiting list. Bummer. I hate waiting. I want it NOW! When I inquired on a makeup forum, a kind gal there told me that if I received a gift Birchbox subscription, that I would bypass the waiting list. So…..yep, I gifted MYSELF a 3 month subscription to Birchbox and I have NO SHAME. I’m calling it my Valentine’s day present to myself. The first box in a gift sub is a “welcome box” so I’m excited to see what it’s all about. I will do an unboxing video on Youtube and of course a review here when I get my first box which is set to ship Feb 15! Super Duper excited here! Anyway if you think you’re interested in joining Birchbox as well you can click here:

And they also have a men’s subscription service for $20 a month. There is NO WAY in Hades my husband would agree to something like that, but I wanted to mention it in case you know a fellow who would.Â
